Chicken Dumplings

Dumplings are a beloved dish around the world, and for good reason! They are delicious, versatile, and easy to make at home. One of our favourite types of dumplings is the chicken dumpling. This is our family recipe, and a great starting point for anyone who wants to try their hand at making dumplings at home! Try it out when you have some time!

Chicken Dumplings Recipe

Dumplings Dough Ingredients:

  • 3 cups of all purpose flour
  • 250g room temperature water
  • 1 pinch of salt

Filling Ingredients:

  • 1 pack of minced chicken (450g)
  • 3 small carrots
  • 4 shiitake mushrooms
  • 2 tbsp of dried black fungus
  • 1 stalk of green onion
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tbsp of soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp of oyster sauce
  • 1 tsp of salt
  • 1/2 tsp of white pepper

Instructions:

1. Mix together all the dumplings dough ingredients in a mixer on medium speed for about 6 mins.

2. Remove the dough from the mixer and knead by hand for about 1 min, then set aside for 1 hour.

3. Place all the following ingredients into a food processor: carrots, shiitake, black fungus and green onion.

4. Mix together all the sauces along with the minced chicken and diced vegetables.

5. Roll the dough out into a long piece, then split it in half and roll each half into a long log.

6. Cut each log into even 1 inch pieces.

7. Flatten the piece with your palm, then roll it out into a round shape with a rolling pin. (Make sure its not too thin)

8. Add the filling into the centre, then wrap the dumpling! (May add a folding tutorial video in the future)

9. Place the dumplings onto a baking tray dusted with flour.

10. Repeat step 7 – 9 until all the filling is used.

11. Bring a pot of water to a rolling boil. Add in the dumplings and put on a lid. Boil for about 2 mins, then add in 1 1/2 cup of cold water, and cover

12. Once the water comes to a boil again (about 2 mins), add in the rest of the cold water.

13. When the water boils again, remove the dumplings from the pot.

14. Enjoy with your favourite condiments!
