The Best Tuna Melt Sandwich Recipe: A Classic with a Twist

Ingredients:

  • 4 slices of bread
  • 2 slices of roasted garlic compound butter
  • 2 cans of tuna
  • 1 stalk of celery (diced)
  • 1 clove of garlic (minced)
  • 1 shallot (diced)
  • 1 tbsp of chopped cilantro
  • 2-4 thai chilis (chopped)
  • 1/4 cup of mozzarella (shredded)
  • 6-8 tbsp of mayonnaise (preferably kewpie)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions:

  1. Begin by combining all of the ingredients (tuna, celery, garlic, cilantro, chilis, mayonnaise, salt and pepper) in a large bowl. Mix well until everything is evenly distributed.
  2. In a medium saucepan over medium heat, spray a little bit of oil. Then, place 2 slices of bread in the pan and toast for 2 minutes on each side.
  3. Place one slice of compound butter on one of the bread slices and spread it evenly.
  4. Place half of the mozzarella onto the slice with the butter. Remove from heat and set aside.
  5. Repeat steps 2-4 with the remaining slices of bread.
  6. Spread the tuna salad onto the toast that has no cheese.
  7. Place the cheese-covered bread slice onto of the tuna salad toast.
