Cinnamon Raisin Bread: A Delicious Homemade Treat

Ingredients:

Yeast Proofing Ingredients:

  • 2 1/2 tsp active dry yeast
  • 1 cup milk (warmed to 110°F)
  • 1 tsp sugar

Bread Ingredients:

  • 4 1/3 cups of bread flour
  • 1/2 cup room temp water
  • 3/4 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1/2 tbsp vinegar
  • 2 tbsp butter (melted), 2 tbsp butter for brushing
  • 2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/3 cup raisins

Instructions:

  1. Start by proofing the yeast. In a bowl, mix together the warm milk and sugar. Then, add the yeast and mix well. Let the yeast proof for about 10-15 minutes or until it becomes foamy.
  2. Next, add the proofed yeast to a mixer and add in the remaining bread ingredients (bread flour, water, salt, sugar, vinegar, and butter).
  3. Mix the ingredients using the dough hook attachment for 8-10 minutes until the dough forms a ball and is smooth without sticking to the mixer.
  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl and let it rise for about 1 hour.
  5. Roll out the dough into a 1/2-inch thick rectangle and brush the top with melted butter.
  6. In a separate bowl, mix together the cinnamon and brown sugar. Spread the mixture over the bread rectangle and sprinkle the raisins on top.
  7. Roll the dough and pinch the ends to seal. Cut the dough in half and twist the pieces together.
  8. Grease a bread pan and place the bread dough inside. Let the bread rise for another 45 minutes (if making an open top, let it rise to around 1 inch at the opening; if not, let the dough rise to 70% from the opening).
  9. Once the bread has risen, brush some butter on top of the risen bread.
  10. Preheat the oven to 375°F and bake the bread for 45 minutes.
  11. Remove the bread from the pan and place it on a cooling rack.Brush the remaining butter on top of the bread. Let it cool for at least 45 minutes before slicing into it.
  12. Enjoy!
